Belarus–Poland Border Crossing Guide 2026: Checkpoints, Documents & Wait Times
The Belarus–Poland border is the second busiest route after Lithuania. Minsk to Brest is around 350 km, then the border crossing and another 200 km to Warsaw. Here is how it works in 2026.
Working Checkpoints in 2026
Three main checkpoints operate for private cars on the Belarus–Poland border in 2026. Your choice of crossing significantly affects waiting time — factor this into your travel planning.
| Checkpoint (BY) | Checkpoint (PL) | Route | Avg. wait time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brest (Terespol) | Terespol | M1 / E30 → Warsaw | 3–7 h |
| Domachevo | Sławatycze | Southern bypass | 1–3 h |
| Bruzgi | Kuźnica Białostocka | Grodno → Białystok | 2–5 h |
Brest–Terespol: The Busiest Crossing
The main and best-known crossing, located directly on the M1 highway (the Berlin road). It handles the largest volume of private cars, so on Friday–Sunday and before public holidays queues can reach 6–10 hours. We recommend travelling Tuesday–Thursday, early in the morning.
Domachevo: The Quiet Alternative
Domachevo is 43 km south of Brest. The route is 60–80 km longer, but queues are 2–3 times shorter. An excellent choice if you get caught in Friday rush hour. The route to Warsaw via Lublin adds about one hour.
Bruzgi (Grodno): For the Northern Direction
The Bruzgi–Kuźnica crossing is ideal for travellers from Grodno, or for those heading to Białystok, Gdańsk or the Tri-City. Minsk to Bruzgi is about 330 km. Queues are usually moderate but can grow in summer.
